How to set up your email account
The set up of your email account on your computer will vary depending on the email client (software) you are using. Some of the more common software includes Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora Mail. Specific set up of your email software can be found by using the software’s HELP feature. Generally, however, every email client will require the following five values:
- Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username
- Password
- Outgoing mail server requires authentication
Add an email account in Outlook Express
- In the Menu bar click on Tools and then Accounts
- Click on Add and then Mail.
- In Display Name, type your name. Click Next.
- E-mail address: enter firstname.lastname@yourdomain.com Click Next.
- Select My incoming mail server is a POP3.
- Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: Enter mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server: Enter mail.yourdomain.com
- In the Outgoing Mail Server area, select the "My server needs authentication" check box. Select the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" option.
- Click Next.
- POP account name: firstname.lastname
- Enter your password and click Next.
- Internet Mail Account Name: You can call this account whatever you would like. It can always be changed later.
- Choose your connection type depending on your connection method.
- Click Finish
Add an email account in Outlook XP
- Open Outlook XP.
- Click on Tools at the top of the window.
- Click E-mail Accounts.
- Choose Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
- Choose POP3 for the server type and click Next. (Note: If you are adding a POP3 server account, click Test Account Settings to verify that your account is working. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be prompted to supply or correct it. Be sure your computer is connected to the Internet.)
- On the Internet E-mail Settings window you will have to type in all of the account information.
- Under User Information, enter Your Name and your E-mail Address.
- Under Server information, type in the Incoming and Outgoing mail server addresses (mail.santexgroup.com for both Incoming and Outgoing). Under Logon Information enter your User Name and Password.
- To make sure everything is entered properly click the Test Account Settings button.
- Once the tests are complete, click the Close button.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
