Confianza: el factor crucial del e-commerce

El e-commerce es antes que nada una cuestión de confianza, y el diseño de un web site tiene que ser funcional a éste. Así lo cree Juan Santiago, cordobés, responsable de Santex-net (www.santex-net.com), una compañía de San Diego (Estados Unidos) dedicada al diseño de e-marketing.
Por eso, conocer quiénes son los usuarios a los que se apunta es una clave. “El diseño -asegura- es un elemento abstracto, que puede no gustarle a unos y mucho a otros: por eso, el factor que determina el éxito es la capacidad de estudio y entendimiento de los procesos que buscan satisfacer a quien va a ingresar el tan ansiado número de tarjeta de crédito”.
Santiago, que llegó a San Diego en 1998, formó su propia firma (Santex-net) junto a compañeros de trabajo que conoció en una empresa de marketing local. Actualmente da charlas periódicas sobre las tendencias e influencias del e-commerce y el marketing on-line.
-¿Cuáles son las tendencias dominantes en diseño de e-commerce?
- Las tendencias están, han estado y estarán siempre terminadas por los end-users (usuarios finales). Los mercados son todos diferentes, y los diseñadores que van a triunfar son aquellos que escuchen mejor y sean capaces de interpretar las necesidades del grupo de usuarios. Simplicidad en el diseño es la tendencia hoy en el mundo. Tiempo atrás un web site no cumplía ninguna función más que informar al usuario. Hoy, es una herramienta de trabajo puesta al servicio del potencial o ya existente cliente.
-¿Qué es lo que no puede ser dejado de lado cuando se diseña un sitio para estos fines?
- ¡Funcionalidad! Nunca hay que olvidarse de que cuando uno diseña, no diseña para uno, sino para un grupo o sector del mercado que la compañía que invierte está interesada en capturar. Un buen diseñador siempre debe sacrificar diseño por funcionalidad. Por eso es muy difícil para diseñadores y programadores triunfar en esta industria. Ellos son artistas e ingenieros en sistema, no marketers.
-¿Cuál es su diagnóstico de lo que ocurre en Argentina?
- Primero: los canales financieros que unen y soportan al usuario-website-banco deberían recomponerse. Segundo, en la Argentina se necesita desarrollar Internet primero para darle paso al e-commerce, que es una cultura en sí misma. Quitando el aspecto tecnológico, necesita de un sólo factor para crecer: el factor confianza. Es el único determinante que hace que el usuario ingrese su tarjeta de crédito y no tiene nada que ver con el diseño de un sitio web: tiene que ver sobre todo con la seguridad moral (además de la que otorga la tecnología) de que la información será usada responsablemente.
-¿Cuáles son las potencialidades?
- Argentina hoy tiene de su población total un 16% de usuarios en Internet con respecto a un 15% del año pasado, del cual sólo un 3% ha comprado por lo menos una vez algo on-line: esto es pobrísimo para los niveles medios o normales en el mundo. Argentina necesita hacer las cosas muy bien para que los chicos que hoy tienen entre 20 y 29 años -que son los que forman el 54% de ese 16% de usuarios y que van a tener un mejor poder adquisitivo en 10 años- confíen en el sistema, porque serán ellos los que vayan a soportar la nueva cultura del e-commerce mañana.
